A couple of weekends ago, we spent time with some of our dear family at Yerik's aunt's house in Conway. Here are pics of some of our favorite people!

Random Happenings

Let's see, what's been going on the past couple of weeks? Well, we've really just been enjoying one another's company! We're still not used to having time on the weekends to just be, and it amazes us what we can come up with when we have the time. For example, Yerik had a hankerin' for some pizza, so he and Ellis just rustled up some (pardon the cowboy lingo- I don't know where that's coming from). It was THE BEST pizza! I'm sure it had a little extra love in it.

Lovely Weekend

Our church, Family Church Bryant (www.familychurchbryant.org), had it's annual Married Life Weekend at Lake DeGray. We had a wonderful time! I have been to Arkadelphia several times, but never to Lake DeGray- it is GORGEOUS! Sorry, I forgot to bring the camera, so you'll just have to take my word for it. We rode up with our friends, Christina and Fernando, and we stayed in the lodge at the lake. The weekend opened Friday night with a 50's Theme- complete with poodle skirts, white tees, and slicked back hair. We played the Newlywed Game (Yerik and I tied for first place with another couple) and then had a Sock Hop. The next day, we continued the weekend with a couple of sessions taught by our pastor, then headed home at noon. It was really nice, despite the fact that I started experiencing "symptoms" Friday night, and they were at full force Saturday. I'm not sure if it's allergies or a cold, but it had me laid up the rest of the weekend.

Thanks to Uncle James and Auntie Sara, we had free babysitting while we were away. They took Ellis to his b-ball game Saturday, and the Angels won 25-5!! Ellis had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 points. Way to go, Little Hooper!

Family

We spent some time with the Conway Robinsons (for those who don't know, both of Leah's sisters married men with the last name Robinson, so there are the Conway Robinsons and the Chicago Robinsons) last weekend. Here are few pictures of the kids. There's one nephew missing- he was very upset that his parents were gone when he woke up from his nap, so instead of being social, he sat in their bed in the dark until they came home (around 3 hours later!).

2 Brains are Better than 1

OK, so we haven't done quite as well as we had hoped keeping up with our blog, but we're going to stick with it. Somone brought to our attention that there's never anything about Yerik and me on the blog, so we'll try to do better with that. That being said, this week's update includes something about two of us...Ellis and Leah are both star pupils. Ellis got his report card a few weeks ago and he had an A in math and all "S" (for satisfactory) in behavior! He even received the high honor of having his name on the Math Board at school- check it out!

Ellis isn't the only brain in the family- Leah is doing quite well in her first Graduate class. She received an A on her first big project, and is well on her way to an A in the course. Ellis has been such a big help keeping Leah on task- if she's watching TV when she's supposed to be reading, Ellis is always quick to remind her that it's study time!

Angels Win Again- #12 Sustains an Injury

Long time, no post! Ellis had game at his home court on yesterday, and THEY WON!!! The Angels spanked their opponents 16 to 4. Ellis was on the board for 2 points and 9 rebounds- Lil' Shaq in the house! He even received an injury in the 4th quarter. If you look really closely at the picture, you'll see the scratch right next to his lip. Of course, to hear Ellis tell the story, you'd think the little boy who scratched him had launched some vicious attack. It was so late in the game that the ref didn't even call the foul (and let's face it- our team really didn't need any more points). We're working on on-the-court attitude and confidence, but other than that Ellis is progressing nicely as a young athlete.

Little Ballers and Shot Callers

Ellis had his second basketball game with the Boys and Girls Club today and THEY WON (12-8)!! Ellis plays for the Billy Mitchell B & GC Angels- all little 6 and 7 year old ballers. They are so cute and so funny. They're very serious about winning, but most of them have no clue what they're doing. Anyway- that's our little baller- #12. He's really good at rebounding the ball and posting up (whatever that means- Yerik said it, so I wrote it). So, way to go Angels- here's to your first win!
